本校は知的障害を主障害とする児童生徒のための、道立の学校です。
障害の特性に応じ、個を大切にした教育に努めています。
また、法の定めにより、特別な教育課程を編成し、実施しています。
きめ細かな、手厚い指導のため1学級の定数は少なく、学級数に応じた教員の配置があります。
遠距離等、通学が困難な児童生徒のため、寄宿舎があります。
どんなに障害が重くても、教育がうけられるよう、ご家庭へ教師が訪問して教育を行う制度があります｡

About us

Hokkaido Wakkanai Special Needs School is a prefectural school for students with special needs such as intellectual disabilities.

We address the education in consideration of their individual needs according to the characteristics of their disabilities.

The special curriculum is adopted under the School Education Law.

In our school, children learn in a small class by rich number of teachers in order to get personalized instruction.

There is a dormitory for students who live far from school and find it difficult to commute.

We visit seriously impaired students at their homes so that they can receive an education.
